Supporting Local Projects That Tackle Financial Hardship
The Thrive Grant Fund is now open for applications from local organisations delivering impactful, project-based initiatives that improve the wellbeing and lives of individuals and families experiencing financial hardship.
We are offering grants of up to £10,000 to support innovative, preventative, and inclusive projects that make a real difference in our community.
Grant Overview
- Funding available: Grants up to £10,000
- Purpose: To support project-based initiatives that improve the wellbeing and lives of individuals and families experiencing financial hardship
Deadline: 8th July 2026
Please note: We may close applications early if demand exceeds available funding.
Priority
- Addressing hardship, strengthening resilience, and preventing crisis
- Reducing hardship (cost of living, essentials, financial insecurity)
- Early intervention to prevent crisis escalation
- Supporting vulnerable or isolated residents
- Building organisational resilience (improve training and workforce capability, implement new systems, strengthen sustainability
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be a registered charity, school, or local community group operating within our area of benefit, the Borough of Wokingham
- Have a project based initiative with clearly defined activities, outcomes, and a fixed timeframe for delivery
- Demonstrate good financial management and sound governance (e.g., up-to-date accounts, safeguarding policies, board oversight)
- Have a bank account in the organisation's name
- Be able to deliver the project within 12 months of receiving the grant
Assessment Criteria
Applications will be assessed on the following:

Impact on Financial Hardship
- Clear identification of the target group(s) facing financial hardship
- Evidence of how the project will improve wellbeing, reduce hardship, or build resilience

Preventative Approach
- Projects that prevent future hardship (e.g. skills development, early intervention, financial education) will be prioritised

Breadth of Support
- Projects offering holistic or wide-ranging support (e.g. mental health, food security, employment readiness) are encouraged

Value for Money
- Clear and realistic budget
- Demonstrates efficient use of funds and potential for lasting impact

Organisational Capacity
- Evidence of strong governance, leadership, and ability to deliver the project
- Track record of community engagement or relevant experience

Inclusivity & Reach
- Projects that reach diverse or underserved communities will be viewed favourably

- Latest annual accounts or financial statement
- Governing document
- Safeguarding policy (if applicable)
All grant applications will be reviewed by the Grants Committee, and applicants will be notified of the outcome by 21st July 2026.
